Brockville police charged a woman with impaired driving after she hit a curb approaching a RIDE check in the early hours of Jan. 1.

Police say that at about 2 a.m., officers from the Brockville Police Service were conducting a RIDE program in the area of King Street West. During that time a 31-year-old female was reportedly operating a vehicle approaching the officers and struck the curb. A roadside breath sample was taken, which police say registered a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and taken for further testing.

“Further investigation revealed that she had cannabis readily available while driving and was in possession of contraband cigarettes,” reads the media release. “The testing confirmed that she was operating the vehicle while over the legal limit.”

The woman was charged with operation while impaired, having a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg, driving a vehicle with cannabis in open baggage and being in possession of unmarked cigarettes.

She was released once sober with conditions and a future court date.
