As the frosty season sets in, Prince Edward County is gearing up to implement its winter parking regulations, effective from December 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow and snow clearance across the County during the challenging winter months.

Throughout this winter period, parking within Picton, including Picton Main Street and the Market Lane parking spaces, will be free of charge, offering.

An additional incentive has been introduced for December parking on Picton Main Street. Motorists are encouraged to contribute to the Food for Learning program by engaging in the “Feed the Meter” initiative. All funds collected from parking meters on Picton Main Street throughout December will be allocated to providing essential meals such as breakfast, lunch and snacks for local school students.

However, as part of these winter regulations, overnight parking will be restricted in the County of Prince Edward. From midnight to 6 a.m., parking on any streets or highways within the county will not be permitted. This restriction will remain enforced until March 31, 2024.

Municipal parking lots across the county will also adhere to the winter parking restrictions, except for specific areas demarcated for overnight parking. Notable among these exceptions are the Mary Street parking lot in Picton, where the first row of spaces on the left upon entrance is designated for overnight parking. Similarly, at the 55 King Street parking lot in Picton, parking is permitted along specific sides on alternating days – right side on odd-numbered days and left side on even-numbered days.
