What’s open and closed in Belleville for Thanksgiving 2023

Thanksgiving weekend is upon us, meaning that Monday, Oct. 9 is a statutory holiday. Here’s a look at what’s open and closed in Belleville on that day.


  • Walmart will be closed
  • McDowell’s Your Independent Grocer will be closed
  • Food Basics will be closed
  • Metro will be closed
  • Both Giant Tiger locations at Bridge Street West and the Millennium Parkway will be closed
  • The Quinte Mall will be closed
  • All LCBO locations will be closed and all Beer Store locations will be closed on Oct. 9. LCBOs will also be closed on Sunday, Oct. 8, however Beer Stores will be open on the Sunday
  • Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be open throughout the weekend for regular hours, but some may vary. Click here to search store hours in Belleville.
  • The Dundas Square Rexall will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Belleville Clinic location will be closed


  • City Hall will be closed Oct. 9.
  • The Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre will operate on a special schedule for Oct. 7 and 8. Most programs will be cancelled, except:
    • Regular ice will operate all day on Oct. 7 and 8.
    • FDC track will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 8.
    • There will be no programs and the customer service desk will be closed on Oct. 9. For more details, visit:
  • Transit – Regular transit and mobility transit will NOT run Oct. 9.
  • Leaf & Yard Waste Depot – Closed Oct. 9.
  • Thurlow Landfill – Closed Oct. 9.
  • Meyers Pier – Closed Oct. 9.
  • There will be NO CHANGES to curbside garbage, green bin, recycling and bulky items collection.
