The Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has informed residents of a change in the well water testing services, which were previously offered at “The Office” in Perth.

Effective Nov. 6, the facility will no longer be available for picking up water sample bottles or dropping off filled sample bottles.

To ensure the continued accessibility of this essential service, a new collaboration has been established with Tay Valley Township. Residents of Tay Valley, Drummond North Elmsley and Lanark Highlands can now obtain and return water sample bottles at the Tay Valley Township Office, located at 217 Harper Road, Perth, Ontario. The service will be available during regular business hours, from Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The health unit expressed gratitude to the proprietors and staff of “The Office” for their years of dedicated service in providing this crucial facility to the community. Additionally, they extended their thanks to Tay Valley Township for their cooperation, ensuring the seamless continuation of this invaluable service within the local area.

The health unit would also like to remind homeowners relying on private wells to be vigilant about testing their drinking water regularly. For residents living in rural areas with wells on their property, the health unit offers free well water testing services. Various locations are available where residents can both pick up and drop off well water sample bottles. Knowledgeable public health inspectors are on hand to assist residents in understanding their drinking water test results and to provide guidance on measures to ensure the safety of their water supply.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these services to safeguard their health and the quality of their drinking water.
