Vehicle fires near Belleville apartment building being treated as suspicious

Belleville Police are investigating a suspicious blaze that took place on Sunday in the city’s east end.

In the early hours of Sept. 24, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a joint response from the Belleville Police and Belleville Fire Department was triggered by reports of a fire at an apartment building located in the city’s east end.

It was soon revealed that two vehicles parked at the scene, were engulfed in flames, leading to a swift response by first responders.

Firefighters from Belleville Fire swiftly arrived at the scene and effectively extinguished the blaze. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries, as the vehicles were unoccupied during the time of the incident.

Intriguingly, Belleville Fire Prevention officers were quick to label this incident as “suspicious,” raising concerns about the cause of the fire. As a result, a collaborative effort between Belleville Police and Belleville Fire has been launched to uncover the truth behind the incident.

Both scorched vehicles have been towed to the secure confines of the Belleville Police Service for meticulous forensic examinations, which will hopefully shed light on the origins of the incident.
