Two teens charged after clocked at well over twice the speed limit in Belleville: police

Belleville police charged two 18-year-olds with stunt driving on Dundas Street East on Tuesday, March 26.

In a media release, the Belleville Police Service reports that on March 26, just after noon, members of the Belleville Police Service’s Traffic Unit were monitoring the speed of traffic on Dundas Street East when they stopped two vehicles travelling in in great excess of the posted speed limit.

Police say one vehicle was travelling at 132km/h in a posted 60km/h zone. The driver was an 18-year-old female.

The second vehicle was travelling at 129km/h in the same posted 60km/h zone. The driver of the second vehicle was an 18-year-old male.

Both drivers were charged with stunt driving and had their driver’s licences suspended for 30 days. Charges have not been proven in court.

Both vehicles were impounded for 14 days and the drivers were issued a summons for a traffic court day in May.
