The Belleville Police Service has provided an update on a collision that took place on the evening of Friday, March 22.

At about 6:05 p.m. on Friday, Belleville police, paramedics and the fire department responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Herchimer Avenue and Station Street.

Police explain in a media release that as a result of the collision, one of the vehicles struck and damaged a hydro pole, which required the intersection to be closed for nearly five hours while crews repaired the pole.

Both drivers attended Belleville General Hospital with reported minor injuries, police say. Following their investigation, a 26-year-old Belleville resident was charged with Careless Driving and issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
