Trenton resident loses control on 401, collides with parked police cruiser

A Trenton resident has been charged after their vehicle collided with an OPP cruiser on the side of the 401. 

In a media release, police say that on March 9, at approximately 8:15 a.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were investigating a collision on Highway 401 westbound in Hamilton Township.

“A passenger vehicle travelling westbound lost control and collided with the unoccupied police vehicle parked on the hard shoulder,” the release reads. “The passenger vehicle came to rest off the roadway.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

A 38-year-old from Trenton has been charged with careless driving.

The OPP reminds motorists to slow down, move over and proceed with caution for parked emergency vehicles.
