Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charge in Prince Edward County

A traffic complaint led to a Prince Edward County resident being charged with impaired driving on Monday, April 22.

OPP say in a media release that shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, officers received a traffic complaint, and shortly after received updated information advising the vehicle in question had entered the ditch on County Road 2. 

Police say that when officers responded to the area, they located the vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver, who was transported to detachment for further testing.

Thomas Olson, age 48, from Prince Edward County, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. This charge has not been proven in court.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. They also had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven.
