Three facing charges after armed robbery in Merrickville-Wolford sends two to hospital

Three suspects have been charged following a reported armed robbery of prescription medication in Merrickville-Wolford. 

OPP report that on Saturday, Dec. 16, just before 2 p.m., Grenville County OPP responded to a business on Wellington Street East in Merrickville-Wolford Township for a report of a robbery.

Police were told that two people armed with knives approached an employee and a customer, then fled on foot to a nearby vehicle.

The suspects were arrested a short time later on County Road 43 and a large amount of stolen prescription medication was seized. 

Hayvin Pos,19 years old, from Merrickville, as well as Connor O’Callaghan, 23, and Kristen Fernberg, 20, both from South Dundas, have been charged with the following offences:

·      Armed robbery

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Pos and O’Callaghan received further charges of:

·      Assault with a weapon – two charges

·      Disguise with intent

·      Possession of firearm

·      Possession of prohibited weapon

Pos also received a charge of Possession of Schedule I Substance-Cocaine. 

Charges have not been proven in court.

Police say that as a result of this incident, two people received minor injuries and were taken to hospital. 

Fernberg was released, however, the other accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
