Three people are dead and five others were taken to hospital with varying degrees of injuries following a collision involving two boats on Bobs Lake near Godfrey overnight.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, emergency responders received a call for service to the area of Attwood Lane, in South Frontenac Township, with early reports that there had been a collision between two boats in Buck Bay, a body of water connected to Bobs Lake.

Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Frontenac Paramedics, and South Frontenac Fire initially responded.

Emergency services began arriving to the area in large numbers about 20 minutes after the initial call and immediately concluded they had a large and serious situation, prompting a request for mutual aid from other nearby agencies to assist in rescue operations.

Emergency responders encountered multiple seriously injured parties both on land and still in the involved boats, which were found one on top of the other alongside an abandoned concrete dock.

Onscene treatment of victims continued for over an hour and several patients were transported to hospital by both ground and air ambulance.

A search continued into the night for one remaining individual who was reported to be missing. This individual was unfortunately later found deceased after an extensive search.

Three people were pronounced deceased at the scene:

  • 21-year-old female from South Frontenac Township

Five other people, ranging in age from 21 to 44, were transported to Kingston General Hospital with a range of injuries. Several others were treated on scene by paramedics and released at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues, with the Coroner’s office being notified and tasked with conducting an investigation alongside OPP.
