There’s lots to do in the Quinte area this weekend! Here are five activities to consider:

  1. Christmas Carols for Charity…and coffee!

Farm Girl Cafe in Stirling is opening its doors for an hour on Friday evening to musical duo Emily Brandt and Travis Whiteman. Through the power of song, pair are raising money for a family in need and are offering to come sing Christmas Carols for anyone who offers a donation. The cafe will host them from 5-6 before they head out to sing at people’s homes throughout the night.

2. “This could get ugly – cookie party” at the Grind and Vine

If you’re looking for an adult-focused yet traditional Christmas event, the Grind and Vine is hosting a cookie decorating party with wine and the ugliest sweater you can find. Donn you’re ugly-sweater apparel, grab a glass and put your cookie-decorating skills to the test this Friday evening.

3. Light Shows in Belleville and Trenton

Jane Forrester Park in Belleville has been transformed for the Festival of Light, open for anyone to tour. On Friday nights Santa and Mrs. Claus come to visit the festival to collect letters for Santa, so grab your pen and paper and come see the illumination!

In Trenton, the Home for the Holidays light show is underway, with houses throughout the city competing for the best holiday decorations. Grab a hot chocolate, hop in your car or step onto the sidewalk to tour the town and see the creativity that comes with a light bulb.

4. Learn to Crochet at Tyendinaga

Looking to gain a new skill? Beginner-crocheters are invited to the Tyendinaga Public Library on Saturday to get hooked on the fibre skill of crochet. Participants will be led through how to create a crocheted heart that they can hang as an ornament on their tree, or give as a creative gift.

5. Last Minute Shoppers Market

The Bayview Mall is opening its doors to over 60 vendors on Saturday for anyone looking for that last-minute gift. Shoppers can find goodies from local artisans like handmade soaps, crocheted stuffies, baked goods, home decor and much more.
