Tatlock Road will be closed to traffic Nov. 20 – 24

A portion of County Road 9 (Tatlock Road) will be closed to traffic Nov. 20 – 24.

In a bid to facilitate culvert replacement work, a segment of County Road 9, commonly known as Tatlock Road, is set to be closed to traffic from Monday, Nov. 20 to Friday, Nov. 24. The closure aims to accommodate the replacement of a three-meter steel culvert with a more robust concrete box culvert.

The affected area is pinpointed precisely at the culvert site located 300 meters south of 7th Concession Darling. While vehicular access will be limited for commuters, local residents will be allowed passage to their homes throughout the duration of the closure.

Lanark County has enlisted the expertise of Arnott Brothers’ Construction for this significant infrastructure upgrade. Due to the narrow width of the roadway and the nature of the construction, it is impractical to maintain a single lane of traffic. Consequently, the temporary road closure has been deemed necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the replacement process.

A media release from the town states that as there are no practical detours available, detour signing will not be put in place.

In light of the inconvenience posed by the road closure, Sean Derouin, the Public Works Manager, expressed gratitude for the community’s patience.

“We thank everyone for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience as we complete this important work,” Derouin remarked.

Local authorities urge residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly during the specified period, taking into account the temporary closure of Tatlock Road. The project is a part of ongoing efforts to enhance the county’s infrastructure, ensuring the safety and convenience of its residents.
