A Belleville man has been charged with impaired after another driver observed erratic driving on a local street.

Police explain in a media release that on April 20, at about 6:30 p.m., “an observant citizen believed a vehicle they were following was being driven by an impaired driver.”

The vehicle was described as “swerving all over the road” before stopping at a residence.

When the driver exited his vehicle, he was reportedly observed to be exhibiting signs consistent with being impaired. A short time later, the man returned to the vehicle and was allegedly attempting to drive again. In the meantime, the citizen had reported the incident to Belleville police, who responded to the address.

Upon their arrival and subsequent police investigation, 60-year-old Graham Robinson of Belleville was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80. Charges have not been proven in court.

He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
