Jonny Harris is bringing Still Standing to the Youth Arena in Smiths Falls on May 8.

Smiths Falls is welcoming comedian Jonny Harris for an evening of laughter and entertainment on Wednesday, May 8. The free event, suitable for ages 12 and above, will kick off at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Youth Arena.

Originally from Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, and currently based in Toronto, Harris is widely recognized for his roles on CBC TV series. He’s best known for portraying constable George Crabtree on “Murdoch Mysteries” and for his work as the host, producer, and writer of Still Standing, a show that has earned him six Canadian Screen Awards.

Still Standing follows Harris as he visits small Canadian towns that have persevered through tough times. He not only profiles the community, but also delivers a custom stand-up comedy set, tailored specifically for the residents, alongside a special toast performed live.

Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow said in a media release he’s excited for the upcoming show.

“We are honoured to host Jonny and the Still Standing Crew to what’s sure to be a fun evening for our community,” Pankow stated. “Being chosen provides us with an opportunity to highlight our resiliency as a town, while allowing us to showcase all that beauty and uniqueness that Smiths Falls has to offer.”

The event will be filmed for CBC television, and attendees will need to sign a release form. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
