Report of shoplifting at Belleville store leads to arrest of woman on multiple warrants

On the evening of Monday, June 17, just before 7:30 p.m., Belleville police responded to a business on Bell Boulevard regarding a report of shoplifting. Police say in a media release that the store’s loss prevention officer had arrested a female suspect for theft.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the woman was wanted on two unendorsed arrest warrants for charges of failing to appear in court, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, failing to comply with an undertaking and three counts of breaching her probation.

Lori Betts, 57-years-old, of Belleville, was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

Betts was also issued a trespass notice for the business on Bell Boulevard.

Charges have not been proven in court
