Rental truck driver charged with impaired on Highway 7 in Mississippi Mills

A traffic stop on Highway 7 by OPP in Lanark County led to an impaired driving charge for an Ottawa man in the early hours of Tuesday, May 28.

A media release explains that officers stopped a rental truck with Arizona licence plates on Highway 7, near Ramsay Concession 4A in Mississippi Mills on Tuesday just after 1:30 a.m.

“After seeing an open beer can in the vehicle, officers utilized the approved roadside screening device,” the release says. “The driver was arrested and transported to the Carleton Place Detachment for further testing.”

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas S’Angelo, age 30, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on July 8. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
