On the evening of Monday, Feb. 12, at about 7:30 p.m., the Belleville Police Service responded to a complaint regarding multiple garbage bin fires along Front Street.
Belleville Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to address the incidents, while police initiated an investigation into the individual(s) responsible for igniting the fires.
Using the downtown camera network, police identified the suspect. At 8 p.m., officers located and apprehended the individual.
Following the investigation, a 50-year-old female with no fixed address was charged with four counts of mischief and breaching her probation.
The suspect was detained pending a bail hearing. Thankfully, aside from the damage to the garbage bins, no further property damage was reported.
