In an exciting collaboration, Bay of Quinte Tourism, the City of Quinte West, and the Trenton Golden Hawks are gearing up to host the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, showcasing top talent from the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The highly anticipated event will take place at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens from Nov. 13 to 15.
A total of 23 games are scheduled to unfold at the Quinte West Arena, featuring all-star teams representing the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL), and Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL).
Two Trenton Golden Hawks players will play in the tournament.
Chair of the host committee, John McDonald, expressed immense pride in hosting this prestigious event. “It is a great honor for this community, city, and the Golden Hawks to welcome the best of the best from eastern Canada. We’re grateful for the overwhelming support from Bay of Quinte Tourism, the City of Quinte West, Volunteer and Information Quinte HPE, local hotels, restaurants, sponsors, and volunteers. OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy emphasized the significance of the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, stating, “It is one of the largest showcase events in all of junior hockey. Partnering with a community like Quinte West allows us to deliver a great experience for nearly 200 elite Junior hockey players and the passionate fans in this area of Ontario.”
This event serves as a crucial platform for Hockey Canada, C.I.S, N.C.A.A, and N.H.L scouts to identify players for the World Junior A Challenge, post-secondary play, and professional hockey opportunities.
