Quinte West OPP charge 2 Mississauga residents with drug trafficking along Highway 401

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two Mississauga residents following a routine traffic stop on Nov. 27 at around 9 a.m. along Highway 401 in Quinte West.

Police state in a media release that an officer intercepted a vehicle that had been reported stolen, setting off a chain of events that resulted in the apprehension of two individuals.

Jaswinder Jassal, aged 44, and Singh Prabhjot, aged 27, both residents of Mississauga, were taken into custody after an investigation stemming from the traffic stop. Police say they uncovered unauthorized identity documents and a stash of suspected drugs.

The charges filed against Jassal and Prabhjot include:

  • Trafficking in schedule 1 substance – Heroin
  • Trafficking in schedule 1 substance – Cocaine
  • Trafficking in schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Unauthorized possession of a credit card
  • Unauthorized possession of identity documents (six counts)

Charges have not been proven in court.

Following their arrest, both accused individuals were remanded in custody pending a scheduled bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
