Quinte West OPP arrest man for allegedly attempting to fraudulently purchase tires

Police in Quinte West have arrested a Quebec man following a complaint of fraud involving the purchase of tires.  

In a media release, Quinte West OPP say that on Tuesday, Feb. 6, officers received a complaint involving an individual who was reportedly attempting to fraudulently purchase tires from a dealership on Highway 33 in the City of Quinte West.

Police say that when confronted by staff, the accused fled; he was subsequently located and arrested a short distance away.

Jonathan Bergeron-Ampleman, 24 years old, from Quebec has been charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of a credit card
  • Failure to comply with Probation Order

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Feb. 7.
