Prince Edward County is gearing up to address the burgeoning transportation needs of the Picton Settlement Area with the development of a comprehensive Transportation Master Plan (TMP).

This plan is set to meticulously evaluate the immediate and future requirements of transportation infrastructure within Picton. By pinpointing deficiencies and demands, the TMP aims to chart a course for substantial enhancements to the area’s multi-modal transportation network.

While a County-wide TMP was completed in 2021, the surge in projected growth specific to Picton necessitates a dedicated plan tailored to this area. The anticipated expansion surpasses previous assumptions made in the 2021 TMP, prompting the need for a more focused strategy.

Integral to this plan is public engagement. To facilitate this, three Public Consultation Centres (PCCs) are slated to take place as part of the study. The first PCC, scheduled for Tuesday, December 12, at the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street) from 6 – 8 p.m., will kickstart the process. Attendees can expect an open drop-in format, where the study team will introduce the initiative, gather public feedback on the area’s current conditions, and outline the subsequent steps in the study’s progression.

For those seeking further details about the project, the County’s website offers additional information.

Those interested in being added to the project contact list for updates or wishing to contribute comments during any phase of the process can reach out to Jeff Shortt, the Project Manager, at 613.476.2148 extension 1007 or via email at jshortt@pecounty.on.ca.
