Prince Edward County resident charged with impaired after pickup abandoned in ditch

On Nov. 27, at approximately 3 p.m., officers from the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision along County Road 7.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a pickup truck in the ditch with no driver in immediate vicinity.

Efforts by police led to the successful location of the driver in question, identified as Mitchel Harrison, a 40-year-old resident of Prince Edward County.

Harrison faces an array of charges stemming from the incident, including operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, as well as failing to remain at the scene and report the accident promptly.

Charges have not been proven in court.

The driver underwent processing and was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for November 28, 2023. In accordance with legal protocols, Harrison’s vehicle will be impounded for a duration of seven days, and their driver’s license suspended for a period of 90 days.
