The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after members of the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment responded to a report of a female lying on the ground at Water Street by Centre Street in Napanee.
The occurrence happened at approximately 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, and police, EMS, and the fire department all attended the scene and located the female lying on the ground. According to a release from the OPP, the female told police she was hit by a black truck. EMS transported the female to the hospital with unknown injuries. OPP said that the driver of the suspect vehicle was interviewed by police at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing with members of the L&A County Detachment of the OPP.
In response to follow-up questions from Kingstonist, Constable David Yome, Media Relations Officer for the L&A OPP, said that the driver that allegedly struck the pedestrian had remained on scene and was there upon police arrival. While he could not provide any updates on injuries sustained by the pedestrian, Yome confirmed that no charges have been laid at this time, and emphasized that the investigation into the matter is active at this time.
