A Prince Edward County (PEC) individual is facing charges after breaking a window of a police cruiser in Picton.
According to a release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, officers received a report that a suspicious individual was approaching children near Church Street in Picton.
“Officers arrived and the individual appeared to be intoxicated in a public place. The individual was arrested. While being placed in the cruiser, the individual struck the rear window causing it to break,” police said.
Andrew Smith, age 25, from Prince Edward County, was charged with mischief and being intoxicated in a public place.
Smith was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton later this month.
