‘Fled the scene’: Police investigating shooting in Trenton

Police in Quinte West are currently investigating a shooting that happened in the early hours of Monday, Oct. 16, leaving one person injured and requiring hospitalization.

OPP state that at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, Quinte West OPP swiftly responded to a distress call at a residence located on Applewood Court, Trenton, following reports of a shooting.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect(s) had fled the scene in a white Dodge Challenger before the authorities arrived. One individual sustained a hand injury and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, in collaboration with OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities are urging members of the public who may have any relevant information to come forward. Specifically, individuals with video surveillance or vehicle dash cam footage capturing the area around Applewood Court, Tripp Boulevard, and Dundas Street West between 1 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 are encouraged to reach out to the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122. Any recordings showing the vehicle or any suspicious activities during that time frame could significantly aid the ongoing investigation.
