Belleville resident charged with impaired driving following collision in Quinte West

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has taken action following an impaired driving incident that occurred in the early hours of Nov. 11.

Responding to a distress call about a single-vehicle collision on Harrington Road, Quinte West, officers arrived at the scene around 3 a.m. Upon investigation, they apprehended the driver involved in the crash.

Dawn Andru-Wood, a 28-year-old resident of Belleville, has been formally charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol or drugs
  • Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Charges have not been proven in court.

Following the arrest, the accused was released from custody pending a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Nov. 30. Consequent to the charges, the vehicle associated with the incident was impounded for a duration of seven days, while the accused’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days.

Law enforcement officials urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of impaired driving by calling 9-1-1 promptly. This action can potentially avert tragic consequences and save lives on the roadways.
