Belleville Police apprehend wanted suspect, who is now facing many charges

In a swift operation on the morning of Sept. 30, Belleville Police executed an arrest warrant at approximately 8 a.m., leading to the apprehension of a wanted individual in the city’s west end. The suspect is now facing many charges, including sexual assault, pointing a firearm and possession of cocaine and crystal meth.

Responding to a tip about the presence of a wanted male, Belleville Police moved in and apprehended the 38-year-old suspect.

The individual, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, faces a litany of serious charges, including assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a release order, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5,000, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, failing to attend court, mischief and sexual assault.

Upon the suspect’s arrest, law enforcement officials made another discovery. Police say the individual was found in possession of a significant quantity of drugs and cash. The confiscated items included cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, indicating potential involvement in drug trafficking activities, according to police. The suspect now faces additional charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, possession of proceeds of crime, and two counts of breaching his release order.

Charges have not been proven in court.

The 38-year-old, who reportedly had no fixed address, was promptly detained and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing.
