In a startling incident on Nov. 3, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Belleville police responded to a call at a North Front Street business concerning an unwanted male.
According to a police media release, officers were confronted with a dangerous situation upon their arrival, as the male suspect was discovered wielding a knife in the establishment’s washroom.
Officers attempted to intervene, but the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Justin Minaker of Belleville, managed to evade them, fleeing the scene with the knife still in his possession. A pursuit ensued, during which officers managed to catch up with the fleeing suspect and successfully apprehended him.
Minaker was taken into custody on charges of weapons dangerous and two counts of mischief. Charges have not been proven in court.
He was brought before the court for a show cause hearing on the same day, Nov. 3. The accused will appear in bail court again on Nov. 6 to address the charges brought against him.
