Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently charged a driver with several offences after an impaired driving investigation.
On Thursday Sept. 21, just before 2:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 62 in Prince Edward County for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
Officers spoke to the driver of the motor vehicle and an approved screening device was used. Police say that as a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Morgan Newson, age 28, from Belleville, was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, operation while prohibited under the criminal code, dangerous operation, driving while under suspension and speeding. Charges have not been proven in court.
The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 4, 2023. The driver also had their vehicle impounded for a period of 45 days and their licence suspended for 90 days.
