Prince Edward County has issued a reminder to Millennium Trail users that all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and dirt bikes are strictly prohibited during the winter months, as grooming operations on the trail have commenced.
This restriction will remain in effect until the snow has melted, and trail conditions are deemed stable enough to accommodate ATV use.
Throughout this period, motorized vehicle usage on the Millennium Trail is limited exclusively to snowmobiles, farm tractors, and vehicles associated with animal husbandry. Snowmobilers are urged to adhere to specified speed limits, maintaining a maximum speed of 20 kilometres per hour within any town, village, or hamlet, 10 kilometres per hour within designated significant wetlands, and 50 kilometres per hour elsewhere.
All trail users are asked to be cognizant of the mixed-use nature of the Millennium Trail and exercise consideration for others. The trail provides an opportunity for the public to engage in winter activities such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, fat tire biking, and walking.
Notably, the Millennium Trail is not maintained for pedestrian use during winter, and certain sections may be icy. Additionally, parking lots and access points remain unplowed.
