Belleville police report in a media release that on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 10, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the eastern part of the city following reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a scene marked by continued yelling and physical altercations among multiple individuals.
Police say a 56-year-old female resident of Belleville had initiated the disturbance. The individual allegedly triggered a fire alarm, forcibly removed a fire safety plan box from the wall, and proceeded to hurl it at both a person and two parked vehicles. Additionally, during attempts to restrain her, she reportedly bit another individual.
Police intervened and placed the woman under arrest. Charges brought against her include assault, assault with a weapon and four counts of mischief. Following her apprehension, the suspect was transported to Belleville General Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Given the necessity of medical attention, the woman remains under hospital care. However, authorities have issued a warrant for her arrest, pending her release from medical supervision.
