5 places to go apple picking in the Bay of Quinte area

Apple picking is a time-honoured September tradition for many Ontarians, and the Bay of Quinte/Prince Edward County area is brimming with the tasty fruits in early autumn. Many local orchards feature additional opportunities for fun such as corn mazes, wagon rides and baked goods.

Here are five local apple orchards you can visit this fall.

  1. Campbell’s Orchards

1633 County Road 3, Carrying Place, ON

Nestled in Prince Edward County on the Bay of Quinte, Campbell’s is an orchard, farm market, bakery, and vineyard.

Currently open seven days a week, Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Pick your own apples 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. No pre-book necessary, just drop in. 

Beans, corn, cucumbers and tomatoes and loads of zucchini are currently being brought in from the fields. 

2. Spring Meadow Orchards

10143 Loyalist Parkway, Napanee

Spend a morning or afternoon apple picking (over 26 varieties available), try a delicious apple cider donut and explore the corn maze. Spring Meadow has been in operation since 1969, and also offers pick-your-own pumpkins later in the fall.

Open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Wynn Farms

8191 Hwy 33, Greater Napanee

Enjoy the apple orchard and/or corn maze and/or flower farm.

Beyond their pick-your-own apples and pumpkin patch, they offer themed corn mazes for youngsters and a moonlight corn maze event for those who aren’t afraid of the dark.

Open Monday- Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Friday 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. (moonlight corn maze)

Saturday 9 a.m.- 10 p.m. (moonlight corn maze)

Sunday 9 a.m. -6 p.m.

4. Cheer Farms

365 Main Street, Brighton

This family-owned business started out small, and fast became a staple at Brighton’s annual Applefest before blossoming into a full-fledged operation.

Open Thursday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

5. Grills Orchards

886 Grills Rd, Quinte West

Grills offers over 15 varieties of apples, as well as a fun-filled pick-your-own experience, a corn maze, relaxing weekend wagon rides and fresh-made treats. A visit to the orchards gives folks the opportunity to slow down, reconnect and be surrounded by incredible local offerings.
