13-year-old girl accused of driving stolen vehicle from Prince Edward County to Belleville

A 13-year-old is being held for a bail hearing after police allege she drove a stolen vehicle from a group home in Prince Edward County to a residence in the east end of Belleville.

Belleville Police state that on Oct. 3, just before 6 p.m., officers received a request for assistance from Prince Edward OPP regarding a stolen vehicle. 

The OPP provided information that a 13-year-old girl had taken a motor vehicle from a group home and was believed to be heading to the Belleville area. 

At approximately 7:37 p.m., a Belleville Police officer located the abandoned stolen vehicle at the east end of Belleville.  An extensive search ensued, however the girl was not immediately located. 

Police later received information that the female was at an east-end residence, where she was located and arrested for theft of a motor vehicle. 

She was then turned over to the OPP and held for a bail hearing.
