Prince Edward County resident facing several charges following collision

A driver has been charged by the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following a single-vehicle collision.

In a media release, police say the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 8, around midnight, prompting officers to respond to the scene on Miller Road alongside Hastings Quinte EMS and Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue.

Upon arrival, officers engaged with the driver and administered a demand for an approved screening device.

Identified as Ramandeep Lehal, aged 43 from Prince Edward County, they face charges for several offences, including operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand, dangerous operation and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Charges have not been proven in court.

Following the arrest, Lehal was released from custody pending an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton scheduled for March 20, 2024. Additionally, their driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
