Some tense moments near the end of the Belleville Senators game on Wednesday, March 13 had nothing to do with what was happening on the ice.

The Belleville Police Service reports that shortly before the end of the third period, at around 9:30 p.m., a 19-year-old female with cognitive challenges who attended the game left her group unexpectedly.

“After searching the arena with security and staff – which included putting on a public notification on during the game – police located the female in nearby Riverside Park,” police say in a media release.

The young woman was returned to her group without further incident; no injuries were reported.

“Belleville police would like to thank the Senators staff, security staff and the public for their assistance in locating the female,” police say.
