A new initiative has been launched to provide overnight refuge from the cold as the H.O.P.E. Centre, located at 46 King Street in Picton, introduces its warming centre. Operational from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily, this facility aims to offer assistance until March 15, 2024.

Designed to accommodate individuals aged 18 and above, the warming centre welcomes all seeking respite from the harsh weather conditions. Visitors are allowed to bring one bag into the facility; however, it’s important to note that pets are not permitted inside. Service animals, however, are granted access in adherence to the center’s guidelines.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the H.O.P.E. Centre and the Prince Edward Lennox and Addington Social Services, demonstrating a collective commitment to supporting the community during winter’s adversities.

For further details or inquiries, individuals are encouraged to reach out to the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 ext. 1023 or 613.962.9108 ext. 1023, or via email at info@pecounty.on.ca. This initiative stands as a testament to the community’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its members during challenging times.
