OPP investigating Carleton Place stabbing

OPP in Carleton Place are investigating a serious assault in which a 36-year-old male was stabbed.

A media release explains that officers were called on Sunday, May 12, at about 1 p.m., after a man with a stab wound and other injuries was reported at Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital.

Police say the man was later transferred to a regional trauma centre for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

“It’s believed the incident took place the same day at a residence on Caldwell Street, where a police presence remains,” a media release from OPP reads.

“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.”

The incident remains under investigation by the Lanark Detachment and Lanark OPP Crime Unit, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit.
