One killed in Quinte West house fire

One person is dead following a residential fire that took place in Quinte West on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are both investigating this incident. .

In a media release, OPP say that their officers, along with Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services, responded shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday to a residence on Heron Lane in Kenron Estates.

“Firefighters located one individual inside and attempted life-saving measure,” the release reads. Sadly, “the 60-year-old male, who lived in the residence was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hastings County Paramedics.”

A post-mortem examination is being conducted.

The investigation is continuing, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences.
