Moped and e-bike drivers arrested for impaired in Brockville within two-hour period

Brockville police report that on Tuesday, April 16, officers arrested two people for impaired driving within a couple of hours. One was on a moped, and the other on an e-bike.

Police say that at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were on general patrol in the area of Ormond Street, when they observed a moped observed weaving along the side of the roadway.

“Suddenly, the driver veered to the right to the point that is struck the curb, causing the driver to fall,” police state, causing his items to spill all over the roadway.

Police learned that the driver, a 63-year-old, was prohibited from driving due to previous impaired charges. He was arrested and taken to the police station where further testing confirmed he was impaired. Luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured.

Later the same day, at about 4:45 p.m., police responded to calls of a motor vehicle collision involving and E-bike and a pickup truck in the area of Perth Street.

Officers determined that the operator of the e-bike, a 55-year-old, man, had been drinking. Luckily, injuries were considered minor or non-life-threatening.

Police say the man failed the roadside screening breath sample and was placed under arrest. Later, at the police station, further testing confirmed the impairment, police say.

This male was on probation and also prohibited from driving due to previous impaired related incidents.
