Authorities from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in collaboration with the United States Homeland Security (San Antonio Division) and the New Braunfels Police Department in Texas, participated in a joint investigation involving child luring across borders.

The investigation, initiated by Quinte West OPP in April 2019 with assistance from the Quinte West Crime Unit, focused on child exploitation materials and luring. The victim, under 14 years old and a resident of Quinte West, encountered a 30-year-old individual from Texas through an online game. A cooperative effort between the agencies led to the apprehension of the suspect.

In a recent development, on November 29, 2023, a San Antonio court sentenced the accused, identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Flora from New Braunfels, Texas, to 14 years in prison, along with 15 years of supervised release. Flora faces charges issued by Quinte West OPP, including possession and transmission of child pornography, inviting sexual contact with a minor, production and possession of child pornography, and luring a minor through telecommunication.
