A man in Brockville who reportedly didn’t pay his cab fare is now facing a transportation fraud charge.

Police say that on March 14, at approximately 12:45 p.m., authorities responded to a call reporting a man who had evaded payment for a taxi ride.

Police say that a 45-year-old man used the taxi service, accruing a fare of approximately $40. However, upon reaching his destination, the suspect allegedly lacked the means to settle the fare and fled the scene.

The taxi driver intercepted the individual before police arrived on-site, and the suspect was then charged with transportation fraud and issued paperwork with a future court date.
