Carleton Place residents Theodore (Ted) Van Hezewyk and his wife Angela Dekker are celebrating after clinching a notable victory worth $100,000 with Instant Crossword Tripler.

Their journey into lottery play began during the pandemic, where the couple found a shared passion for the Instant Crossword game.

“My wife played the ticket and didn’t realize it was a big win at first,” said Ted while recounting the moment at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, where they claimed their winnings.. “I noticed she matched six words and scanned it on the OLG app. We shared a kiss and a hug in celebration, but she kept saying, ‘Really?'”

Elated by the unexpected win, Ted expressed, “It’s an unbelievable experience. It took a few days for it to really sink in. This win came at a really good time for us. We are so thankful.”

With a recent home purchase under their belt, the couple plans to allocate their windfall towards home renovations and mortgage payments, intending to secure the rest for their retirement.

Instant Crossword Tripler, a $5 play, boasts a top prize of $100,000 with odds of winning any prize at 1 in 3.81.
