Tay Valley man arrested after allegedly pointing handgun during dispute

Lanark OPP report that a Tay Valley Township resident is facing charges after a dispute led to an incident where a firearm was allegedly pointed.

Officers with the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a location on Tay Ridge Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1.

It was reported that two males were involved in a dispute when one pointed a handgun at the other.

ERT members were able to arrest an individual without incident.

Donald Montgomery, age 53, of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Pointing a firearm

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on February 2, 2024.
