‘Suspicious vehicle’ on Smiths Falls police property leads to licence suspension

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, an officer from the Smiths Falls Police Service launched an investigation into a suspicious motor vehicle discovered on police service property.

In a media release, police state that the routine check escalated when the officer developed suspicions of impaired operation.

The focus of the investigation, a 21-year-old male identified as Matthew Rodriguez of Barrie, Ontario, was subjected to a roadside breath demand.

Rodriguez provided a breath sample, which registered an alert, leading to the enforcement of a 3-day license suspension.

No charges have been proven in court.
