The Town of Smiths Falls wants to hear your thoughts on its 2024 municipal budget.
In a media release, the town says it is looking for residents, businesses and property owners to help shape the budget by providing feedback on the initial draft.
“Council values the feedback we receive from the community on how our residents, business owners and taxpayers believe tax dollars should be spent,” stated Mayor Shawn Pankow. “This helps Council prioritize and balance our service delivery and capital projects with the needs of the community.”
The first draft of the 2024 budget, which outlines proposed service delivery costs and capital projects for the upcoming year, was presented to Council during its meeting on Dec. 22. A second draft will be brought forward for consideration at the Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for Jan. 29.
Residents and stakeholders interested in reviewing the draft budget presentation and providing input are encouraged to participate in an online survey available on the Town’s website at www.smithsfalls.ca/BudgetSurvey. People can also obtain and submit a paper copy at the reception desk at Town Hall.
The survey will remain open until Sunday, Jan. 21 at midnight. Results will be summarized and included in the next budget report.
