A Smiths Falls woman is facing charges after police say her child was found wandering alone at approximately midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
“The investigation revealed her 37-year-old mother was not home and had no idea her child had wandered off,” police say in a media release.
The mother was located and arrested a short time later; police say she was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
The woman was subsequently charged with Abandoning Child and Possession of CDSA.
Charges have not been proven in court.
She was later released on an undertaking with conditions and a court date to answer to the charges.
