The Town of Smiths Falls is now accepting applications for the Municipal Community Grants Program, providing an opportunity for community organizations and individuals to seek financial support for their 2024 projects. The initiative aims to enhance the well-being of residents, attract visitors, and boost the local economy.
Recognizing the vital role played by organizations and individuals in improving the community’s quality of life, the Town of Smiths Falls is committed to offering financial assistance through the annual Municipal Community Grants Program. The funding, drawn from the municipality’s operating budget, will be allocated to eligible applicants. These funds are made available following approval by the Council during the annual budget process.
In a significant move, the Council introduced changes to the existing Municipal Grants Policy in October, expanding eligibility criteria and defining additional funding allocations and program guidelines. One notable addition is the incorporation of the On The Roll Program, specifically designed to provide financial support for various arts and cultural initiatives. This encompasses activities such as music performances, art programs, and community cultural events. This policy modification ensures that all grant requests will undergo a unified, fair, and transparent evaluation process.
Under the updated grant program, financial assistance will be provided to enhance operational and programming capacities for local not-for-profit organizations. Additionally, funding will be extended to non-incorporated groups and individuals, including business owners, looking to organize events, activations, and programs within the community. The goal is to bolster community engagement and create a vibrant local atmosphere.
Interested parties can submit their funding applications starting from November 1st until November 30th. Following the Council’s final budget approval in February 2024, the approved applicants will have access to the allocated funds. The Town of Smiths Falls encourages potential applicants to review the program guidelines and access application forms, which are available on the Town’s official website at www.smithsfalls.ca/CommunityGrants. Applications can be submitted via email or in person to Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard copy forms can also be dropped off at the Town Hall Reception.
