The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH) reports its sites continue to see an extremely high number of patients for respiratory illnesses.

“This has resulted in the number of patients needing a bed currently exceeding the number of beds available,” reads an Oct. 11 alert from the hospital.

“This inpatient pressure is occurring at both sites of the hospital.”

Late last month, the hospital declared a ‘Code Orange,’ also do to a high volume of patients with respiratory illness.

The PSFDH Health Care Team says it will continue to assess each person and treat the sickest patients first.

This means that some patients may experience a longer wait.

If you require immediate medical help, please call 911 and paramedics will assist and transport you to the nearest emergency department for care, if needed.
