The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stittsville resident with fraud after a Beckwith Township resident reported an issue with a contractor.
In a media release, police explain that the investigation began in November. A Beckwith Township resident reported that they had paid a large advance to a contractor for a construction project.
“The individual told investigators that issues developed and the project was not completed,” police state.
On Jan. 22, as a result of the investigation, Shelby Mills, age 30 of Stittsville, was charged with fraud over $5,000.
The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 4, 2024.
